Curator Christine Eyene (UK) in dialogue with the audience about SNAKE
On Sunday April 7th, 2013 art historian, critic and curator Christine Eyene is a guest speaker in the much discussed exhibition SNAKE by Michael Tedja. After the generally positive reviews in which the sheer amount of work in the exhibition was a recurring theme, it is time to deepen the discussion.
Christine Eyene is the first guest in a series of three. Her recent projects include co-curatorship of the Dak’Art 2012 – Biennale of Contemporary African Art and she was co-editor visual arts for the French journal ‘Africultures’ since 2002. Recently she became member of the ‘Making Histories Visible’ team’ at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), which is conducting a research into art in the Black Diaspora. After discussing the work of Michael Tedja curator Hilde de Bruijn and Christine Eyene will make a further selection of works. Based on a dialogue with the audience about the making of choices, a couple of works on paper in the exhibition will be replaced by others.
